Principal's Corner
Dear RCHS Community,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Rappahannock County High School (RCHS). The 2024-2025 school year will mark my 33rd year in education. Since graduating from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, I have served communities in culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged schools in Scotland, Malta, Mexico, and the USA. Rappahannock County High School is my dream school, providing individualized, student-centered learning opportunities for all students, allowing them to embrace their passions. Whether their goal is to attend a four-year college or enter the local workforce after graduation, RCHS provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
When asked about my vision for my first year at RCHS, I can honestly say that I am here to support our dedicated and passionate teachers, to inspire and motivate our students, and to instill a sense of pride and commitment within our school community and beyond. I am looking forward to supporting all our athletic teams and fine and performing arts programs, in addition to learning alongside our students through hands-on experiences with our impressive CTE department.
As we embark on the Road to Remarkable, I am committed to leading the charge at RCHS to ensure all our students receive rich educational and real-world experiences, with the Profile of a Virginia Graduate as our North Star. I am dedicated to empowering every student to reach their full potential, in alignment with our school division’s vision, by providing a wide array of educational opportunities and the chance for our students to design and carve out individual roadmaps to excellence.
I am most excited about working alongside Dr. Grimsley and her amazing central office team. It is hard to believe I have only been with the division for a week. I have been made to feel so welcome, not just at the school but also in the community. I have also been fortunate enough to find a new local coffee shop, Before and After, which has been a great place for both coffee and support.
I would like to thank Dr. Grimsley and her team for inviting me to be a member of this very special school community.
Yours truly,
Dr. MJ Boynton (Dr. B)
