Spring 2020 Update

Image for Spring 2020 Update

To our RCHS students and families,

Our hearts, like many of yours, are saddened by the school closures that our current environment requires. Please know that all of our teachers are working hard to create an educational experience that will be both worthwhile and enjoyable as we find our way in this new world of virtual schooling.

Our first task is to ensure that all our families have the technology access they need to continue their education. To that end our teachers are reaching out to all their students to see who needs computers and/or wifi access.  We hope to ensure that all have equitable access to our virtual education platform and we expect to have that task completed before the April 13 start of our new Virtual RCHS.

At the same time our teachers are working on plans and lessons that will result in true learning experiences and meaningful results. We will be trying some new ideas and strategies and we realize that not all of them may have the intended results. But just as we tell our students, the fear of making mistakes will not keep us from making the effort, and we are and will be making every effort to continue every student’s education.

Currently the High School is maintaining office hours – meaning someone is IN the building and answering phones - as follows:

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday – Noon until 3 PM

Wednesday and Friday - 10 AM until 3 PM

Please know that the noon starts on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday allow our staff to help with food deliveries to those in need in our county.

Please also know that email is available 24/7 and responses can be expected within one business day, typically MUCH faster.

We will do our best to communicate frequently as the situation changes and ask that you please communicate with us as you have questions and needs.

We will get through this, and through it successfully, because We Are Rappahannock!!!!
